Some time ago, several members from a variety of 12-Step programs began to meet in order to focus on Steps 10, 11 and 12 -- the last three Steps of their respective fellowships.

They were motivated by a belief that perhaps the most important aspect of their programs was in danger of being lost -- the idea that Steps 1 through 9 are simply a preparation (a very necessary preparation, but nevertheless still only a preparation) for the on-going living of our lives against a meaningful and disciplined daily practice of Steps 10, 11 and 12.

Many of those members have found their lives transformed by this dedicated practice of the last three Steps. Most of them believe this transformation to be the most significant thing they have experienced since first coming into recovery.

As might be expected, what is said in these meetings has a rather different focus from what is heard in "ordinary" meetings. These pages attempt to reflect that focus; to the extent that this goal is unmet, the fault is entirely the author's.

"The spiritual life is never one of achievement; it is always one of letting go."
